Junior final v Ballylongford

Division four North Kerry League Junior final.

Tarbert shared the spoils with Ballylongford in a keenly contested North Kerry league final

Played at Coolard on Tuesday evening of last week. Stephen O Connor and Donal Leahy

Opened the scoring for Tarbert with two points before Ballylongford replied with one. Tarbert pulled further ahead with three more points to go in to a four point lead which Ballylongford quickly reduced to two. Two points form Paddy Moriarty and one from Stephen O Connor gave Tarbert a five point cushion at half time on a score of Tarbert 0-08

Ballylongford 0-03. Ballylongford opened the second half scoring with a point and were shortly awarded a penalty which they slotted to the net to reduce Tarbert’s lead to the minimum. Stephen O Connor had a long range point for Tarbert but two points for Bally

Left matters all square. Both parties exchanged points to leave them on level terms again.

At this stage one would have to question how a Tarbert goal that looked totally legitimate was disallowed. Neutral umpires must be mandatory for the replay. Tarbert fought bravely

For a win but playing against a tricky wind and a solid Ballylongford defence the forwards line found it hard to make progress. Deep in to injury time Tarbert were awarded a penalty

And as a safety measure kicked it over the bar to give them a one point lead. However from the kick out Ballylongford broke up field and were awarded a free which they duly pointed as the final whistle sounded. Final score  Tarbert  0-011  Ballylongford  1-08.
